Why in News?
India has launched Operation Amistad, a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission to support Venezuela after a series of devastating earthquakes caused widespread destruction. Under the operation, the Indian Army, in coordination with the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), dispatched medical teams, field hospitals, and relief supplies to the affected areas.
What is Operation Amistad?
Operation Amistad is India’s humanitarian relief mission aimed at providing emergency medical assistance and disaster relief to earthquake-affected Venezuela. The word “Amistad” means “Friendship” in Spanish, symbolising India’s solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
